Hundreds of people, including NSW Premier Chris Mince, gathered in Forbes this afternoon to say goodbye to Molly Ticehurst, more than a week after she was allegedly killed by her former partner.
A number of tributes to the 28-year-old were heard, including a note from her six-year-old son, which was read out.
“Dear Mom, I love you,” the message read.
“I wish you were here. You were the best mother in the world.”
“Molly didn’t have to leave us to grow angel wings,” said Tony Ticehurst, Molly’s father.
“Every parent would like their child to change the world,” he added.
“But not at this price.”
Ticehurst, 28, was found dead at her home by Forbes on April 22.
Ticehurst’s death comes amid a raging national debate over alarming levels of gender-based violence this year.
Yesterday the federal government pledged almost $1 billion to support domestic violence services.
Among the mourners at Forbes today was Means, who attended the funeral despite his father’s death just 24 hours earlier.
Ticehurst’s family said they want any new bail reform legislation to be called “Molly’s Law”.
